Parade of Lights

Sunday, December 10, 2017 - Sunday, December 10, 2017

The 2017 event marks the 32nd Annual Parade of Lights. Starting with fun for the entire family at Santa's Village, the event culminates with a 5-minute fireworks display. The boat parade is preceded by Santa’s Village activities beginning at 3 p.m. on the City Pier in Santa Barbara Harbor (by the boats). Hundreds of families will come out to play in 10 tons of snow and take photos with Santa to get into the holiday spirit. The first 400 children receive free goody bags from Santa's helpers!

At 5:30 p.m. the annual boat parade begins with approximately 30 boats motoring, sailing, and paddling the Santa Barbara Coastline to the theme of Hollywood Holidays. Judging takes place at Stearns Wharf and boats are awarded donated cash and prizes in five categories. Best viewing locations include Stearns Wharf and the breakwater. Then visitors enjoy a fireworks show after the parade, ending their night with a bang.

Event admission is free! For more parade information contact the Harbormaster’s Office at (805) 564-5531.

Architectural Walking Tour of Santa Barbara

Sabado (Saturday, 10 a.m.) walking tour & Domingo (Sunday, 10 a.m.) walking tour

Experience Santa Barbara—its architecture and its past—in a unique and personal way. Join the Architectural Foundation of Santa Barbara in a small group walking tour of downtown on Saturdays and Sundays. Led by highly knowledgeable docents, the tour focuses on architectural styles; significant and historic buildings; aesthetics; past and present building use; and landscape history. Discover why Santa Barbara is called “The American Riviera,” and why the Santa Barbara News Press lauds our educational walkabouts.

They’ll lead you to hidden courtyards, secret fountains and original adobes. Photographic opportunities abound and our leisurely pace invites relaxed enjoyment. Appreciate varying architectural traditions and see close-up Santa Barbara’s hallmarks: hand-made tiles, wrought iron detailing, stonework, balconies, doorways, arches, and fragrant plantings.

Adjacent city lot parking is available for both tours. The tours are an easy walking stroll. Bring your camera and friends. All are welcome, including children, but please know that the tour is an hour and half of walking with lots of detailed information. Children under 12 are free but must be accompanied by an adult. Please, no strollers.
